The Peace, We Seek

Troubled hearts, wrapped in despair—why do we carry such weight? Anxious, and sad, and burdened with grief... Anxious about the future, grieving the present, and saddened by the past, often we forget to cherish the very blessings of the Almighty that lie before us...

Have you ever wondered what the answer to these conflicting feelings, which destroy our peace of mind, could be?

It is found in what most of us abandon, but the one thing we must hold tight to — Remembrance of Allah… For Allah says

“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” (Qur’an 13:28)

We chase fleeting, momentary happiness, powered by greed and driven by desire, forgetting that He — Allah is the provider and sustainer. Tranquility is lost, peace remains unfound, overshadowed by struggles and troubles… Yet, the path back to true peace is always open, For He is The Most Merciful and The Most Gracious!

In His remembrance, we are guided, and when we return to Him, we rediscover the lost peace.

The Healer – Ash-Shafi

Ash-Shafi is one of the miraculous names of Allah swt which is exalted in the heavens, because he named himself this name and is worthy to be characterized by the quality of healing, and he is the only one who heals and recovers the bodies of his worshippers. It is also a name with a deep meaning that can be reflected upon just by its appearance. Ash-Shefaa (healing) is always related to the sickness. We need to ensure we have Imaan and strong faith that all these sicknesses and different illnesses are trials from Allah.

The one who knows of all illnesses, their causes, and cures, and the provider of all of them; the illnesses of the body, mind, and soul; illnesses of doubt, illusions, malice, jealousy, and sins. There is no healing except by his and no removal of harm except by him. The real cause of human diseases is straying far away from the straight path of Allah the Almighty. In other words, all spiritual diseases of the heart such as rancor, hatred, arrogance, selfishness, ungratefulness, unfairness, etc. are the symptoms of one serious disease which is turning away from Allah the Almighty. Therefore, out of Allah's Mercy, when one turns away from him, Allah the Almighty afflicts him with some trials and calamities to heal his heart (from spiritual diseases). As a result, he will turn to him in repentance. Thus, it is Allah the Almighty who cures spiritual and physical sickness. It is mentioned in the Qur’an...

“And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.” [(Quran 26:80)]

This verse reflects Prophet Ibrahim AS’s reliance on Allah swt.

As believers, when we are afflicted with sickness, we see it as a source of good deeds for us. And it is a means in which Allah swt wipes away our bad deeds and raises our ranks and levels in paradise. This is how the believer sees illness. He sees it as something positive. The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) narrated to say that no calamity afflicts the believer except that Allah swt expiates his sins.

Whenever the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) visited a sick person or a sick person was brought to him, he would say:

(“O Allah, Lord of mankind, do away with my suffering. Heal (me) as You are the only healer and there is no cure except that of yours, it is that which leaves no ailment behind”). [Narrated by Al-Bukhāri and Muslim]

Therefore, if you’re carrying a heavy heart, empty it during sujood. Don’t lift your head from the ground until you’ve told Allah everything. Vocalising what he already knows will flush out the anxiety of your trials and calamities. Surrender yourself to Allah swt, He will indeed heal you!

Everything has a purpose

You are an intentional creation of a perfect God. You aren’t a product of chance or luck. As the Qur’an says “We didn’t create the heavens and the earth and everything between them playfully” (21:16)

There is no accidental life. Everything has a purpose. Your sadness has a purpose, your happiness has a purpose, just like you have a purpose in this dunya. Trust him firmly. The blocked road, the missed opportunity, the closed door, the heartbreak, the rejection, the pain and the turmoil were for a reason. Allah is protecting you, but you just don’t seem to understand that. The good news is Allah sees what you can’t see.

“And perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know” Qur’an (2:216)

Allah will put you in a certain position in life only for you to realise your worth. It may destroy who you are but that’s the beauty of putting your trust in Allah. If it destroys you then that’s the purpose of being in that situation, and Allah will not take you out of that situation until the purpose has been served. You may lose faith and you may question why is Allah testing me, But I beg you to understand that when Allah tests you, his love for you is unconditional that’s the reason why he is giving you test after test to better your self as a Muslim and a person. He is giving you chance after chance to mend your broken path towards Allah, he is the only One who can save us from a bad situation when the time is right, just hold tight and wait for the mercy of Allah reach you.

One day your heart will stop beating and nothing in this Dunya will matter, in the end it will be just you, Allah and your book of deeds. Wallahi this dunya isn’t worth it. Today you are alive, tomorrow you might end up in your grave. So, stay close to Allah whilst you’re still alive.

“Every soul will taste death” (3:185), (29:57)
